Welcome to my blog

Please don't remind me that I'm poor; I'm having too much fun pretending I'm simply "living green" like everyone else these days.

What is today?

All day yesterday I thought it was Wednesday. Last night I realized it was Friday. Where does the time go? Gee I lost a couple of days that I really could have used to catch up on some of this work. No wonder I feel so far behind. You think maybe the fabric gremlins have been playing with my calendar?

I did a couple of customer quilts but failed to take the pictures. It's too dark in the studio to take them right now

Then I worked on this quilt. I did the face and hat all over again. I wasn't happy with the previous ones. I'm so thrilled with my ability to do this type quilt. I keep asking myself why I didn't start doing these years ago.

It was because years ago there weren't these kinds of paints and artsy supplies like are available today.

Today is another busy day so I will visit a few blogs then head for the studio. My SIL is going to be here for her day to use the machine.

Busy day ahead

Here is today's finished quilt.

I have a very busy day ahead of me so I am not going to sit at the computer and type. I'll post more pictures tomorrow.

Rug started

The mailman brought me my rug cording. The one on the right is what I received. The one on the left is what I've been used to using.

The fabric is going to be a lot different for me too. The one on the right is what should be cut to use this frame. The one on the left is what I've been using on my own homemade frame.

I couldn't wait to get started even though I probably won't have time to do anything else until after the Christmas rush. I only got the small frame strung and then worked a couple of rows. It's definitely a different feel to the work. Larger than I'm used to working with. I think the fabric I chose is much too stiff. I will try some different fabric before continuing.

One of my customers (Rusty) helped me with my computer. He showed me how to move pictures off my computer onto disks. YEAH!! I had a cd burner drive installed several months ago but I never could get it to work. I didn't know there was special software on my computer for burning cds. I wonder why the computer person who installed the drive didn't tell me that. This is one more helpful thing I can use in my January reorganizing. I have several years worth of pictures on the computer that I can now store on disks and speed up my computer.

I'm late getting started this morning. I didn't sleep well last night. Someone was hanging around near the house which made the furkids start barking. Just when I would drift off to sleep the barking would wake me up. I will be dragging around most of the day so I best get started.

Had a ME day

Yesterday I went to see the eye doctor again. He checked my glasses against the prescription he gave me. It seems the people who grind the glass made a math error. Instead of a positive they ground the glass to a negative. In other words what was supposed to be moved toward my eyes is actually moved away when looking through the lens. So now the correction is being made and I should have them by early next week.

When I got home I didn't want to work on the quilting machine so I did some ME projects. I updated my quilt project log book. I took out some of the columns and streamlined it a bit. Yes, I know I could put all this on the computer. I don't trust my computer. I trust paper. Besides, my computer is in another room. It only gets turned on early in the morning so I'm not tempted to be looking at eye candy quilts instead of working. This paper log stays in the quilting studio.

Then I added the quilts that are still in the works and I added in a couple that I want to make for my grandkids. I will start making the kits up as soon as the Christmas rush is over.

Then I worked on these a while.

Worked on these a bit too. I have the blocks almost all made. I should be able to get the top finished on the next ME day.

Then I worked on these. Finished putting the blocks together and started on the sashing.

Today I'm back on the quilting machine and dreaming while I work. Dreaming of even more quilts I'd like to make....after the rush.

Technology irritates me!

This is today's finished quilt. I still don't know what I'm doing wrong with my camera. I don't have any time right now for sitting and reading the booklet. Too many commitments with too many looming deadlines.

This was taken with the flash on. See the dark area?

This was taken with the flash off and only the overhead lights. No dark but the sickly green cast.

This is the back of the quilt. It's actually a bright white backing but looks so yellow green here.

Same problem with this picture. An ugly yellow green cast. But the pictures do show the stitching designs I used.

I had a few minutes last night after I finished that quilt and loaded another one for today. I worked on the lady's hat. I wanted to see the peacock feather in it. Nope! Can't use that. The feather doesn't look right because it's too dark next to the white feathers. I will try another one using maybe a lighter color feather from the fabric. If I can find a lighter color one.

Here is another one of those dogs running loose in my neighborhood. He looks kind of friendly but I won't take the chance on getting bitten. I don't know if he has had shots or not. The angle on the photo comes from a white porch post in the picture.
