Welcome to my blog

Please don't remind me that I'm poor; I'm having too much fun pretending I'm simply "living green" like everyone else these days.

Another finished quilt. I worked two long days instead of three short ones in order to get it finished. The days keep moving faster toward the xmas deadlines. I'm like a hampster on the wheel. I move faster and faster. I can't finish them all but I want to do all that I can. It was a really nice sunny day. The late evening sun is shining through the window as I take the pictures. The nice 70 degree days won't last because it's November.

I did a nice design on the outside border.

A leafy heart vine on the inside border.

A feather design and leaves on the blocks.

A view from the back.

Another view from the back.

I believe it's a really good custom quilting done and it's finished earlier than expected. Maybe I can go sit outside a little while as the sun sets.
,
When all of a sudden..... there it was.....

The one thing that could put a dark cloud on the other wise really nice sunny day. A tuck in the backing. Gee whiz! Yes, machine quilters make issues on quilts too.

Can you guess what I will be doing today?

Vintage 9 patch quilt

Next finished quilt. A vintage 9 patch.

A view from the back to see the quilting design. I did a feather in the long sashing rows.

From the front.... line dancing on the blocks.

Leaves on the short sashing.

The next one on the machine.

Yes, it does have issues.

Need I say more?

Issue quilts

Issue quilt - vintage double wedding ring

I finished this vintage quilt for a customer. It was an inherited top that had been in storage for a number of years. It had alot of issues I had to deal with to make it usable.

These issues are typical of inherited vintage quilt tops.

I stabelized the whole thing by doing a serpentine line around all the arcs first. While doing this I pulled and tugged and folded areas to get it all fairly even and flat.

I then rolled back to the beginning and quilted in the other areas.

I wrapped the back to the front for the binding. Yes, it is wavy. It should flatten out when the quilt is washed. It is not supposed to be perfect. It’s just supposed to be finished so it can be enjoyed and used.
